THE TRAVELLER

The Traveller is not a theatre performance as we know it. It is an experience room for the audience. The inspiration comes from the sensory theatre where the audience are encouraged to use their senses and imagination to travel through life and lived experiences. The sensory theatre is arranged in collaboration with the theatre festival CPH Stage.

Thursday 8. June and Friday 9. June 2023

In the summer of 2020 the National Theatre of Greenland (Nunatta Isiginnaartitsisarfia) created an experience with inspiration of the sensory theatre. The project allowed for new means to meet an audience and gave the actors and actresses the possibility to work more experimentally than in the usual theatre setting. The experience resulted in the audience having the possibility to write down their thoughts on pieces of paper, as a reflection of the sensory theatre - and the many results were  heartwarming, surprising and substantial.

In the sensory theatre there are no actors - only ‘residents’. There are neither any audiences - instead there are ‘travellers’. It is the audience’s - our - travel which is in focus, both in a concrete and transferred meaning.
