SULUIT – LIVE

From throat singing to jazz, soul, pop, and rap music. Greenlandic SULUIT invites you on a musical journey in the Arctic.

Fri, Nov 1, 2019, 9:00 PM

“Suluit” is an Inuit word meaning “wings” that fully describes the Greenlandic band SULUIT. With three singers, SULUIT’s sound is driven by vocals inspired by traditional Greenlandic music, myths and drum songs; a blend of world, soul, pop and throat singing that takes audiences on a musical journey into the far north.

SULUIT was founded in 2018 and has since become very popular on the Greenlandic music scene. The band is composed of several of Greenland’s most popular and well-known contemporary artists – Nukâka Coster-Waldau, Karina Møller, H.H. Suersaq, Ilannguaq Lumholt, and two acclaimed faces on the Danish and Arctic music scene, the percussionist Peter Kibsgaard and keyboard player and pianist Kristoffer Jul Reenberg.

SULUIT´s repertoire is primarily composed and written by themselves – but cover versions of well known Greenlandic evergreens and traditional Greenlandic myths will add an extra spice to the concert. We are still waiting for SULUIT’s debut album. Hence, live is the only way to enjoy them!

As one of the band members lives in Greenland, and the rest in Denmark, the composition of the band varies from event to event. Often it will H.H. Suersaq and Ilannguaq Lumholt who replace each other.
